Carpinteria

Got some cool beach scenes for you today! Yesterday I spent pretty much the whole day in Carpinteria, CA. I had to go do some paperwork towards the evening for my upcoming employment in the area. So I thought it would be good if I brought my camera and see if I can capture some beach scenes. I'm bringing back an old favorite of mine, the Fujifilm S1 Pro paired with a Nikkor 28-200mm. I haven't shot with this combo in a while so I thought it was time to dust it off and remember why I fell in love with this camera.

So to start things off I meandered my way over to Jellybowl in Carp and made my way over to the campgrounds. I was walking around earlier in the day and wasn't really feeling the pictures I got, so I came back during sunset.

Originally my idea was to go take pictures of the surfers, there wasn't really many guys out there yesterday so I only got a couple pictures that I thought were standouts. I was really happy with what I was able to get.

Walking up and down the beach, you are basically in the campgrounds. Right along the edge of the campgrounds is where I really stayed because I didn't really want to bother anyone there who was camping. It's a really cool place to camp since it's right along the beach and the main street is just a 5 minute walk away.

Overall, I'm really happy with what I got. I shot this camera like I was shooting a film camera, I didn't want to be worrying about my compositions the whole time so I made the effort to not look at any of the pictures in the moment. A very fun day with that camera, I'm sure I'll be using it more and more.

One more thing, my birthday is coming up and I think I'm going to be making changes to my Instagram @m_kinghorn_ , but we will see when that time comes.

There's Goo Everywhere

So it's been a while since I last uploaded anything onto this blog, but I feel like I should continue on with this thing that I started. I guess now's a good time as any to start up again. This week we went to a local punk show hosted by local band Goo Spot, along with a newer band Corporate America. Set up at a newer bar called Union in the middle of downtown Santa Barbara.  Here is a full library of what I shot The crowd was so energetic, all these kids amped up to hear the local favorites, or even new favorites, tear up the place with that fast and loud sound. Pits opened up, they were moshing, skanking, slam dancing, jumping off a barrel, It was a great time. The show was fun time, and talking to everyone and getting all these photos was an even better of a time. With the opening of Union in Santa Barbara, I hope that the grassroots music scene of Santa Barbara will continue to thrive.

Avo Fest Molcajete

Another Avo Fest in the books. This year was a lot of fun, the moment The Upbeat started playing the crowd lit up. The amount of crowd surfing was insane for a local avocado festival, but it's an Upbeat show so I shouldn't be surprised.  It was the 40th year of The Upbeat so this show was pretty special, and that's probably why the crowed was way more lively than last year. They played some classic songs from their discography like, "Farmah Man", "17 @ 17", "Sitting on Capital Hill", and my favorite "Olde Towne". If you've never listened to them before, you should definitely give them a listen, some of the best Ska you'll hear. Anyways, lets get to the photos. I was on the outskirts of the mosh pit at all times so I had to shelter my camera from getting bumped into for the entire show. This wasn't the biggest issue since I was using a cheap lens I like and a cheap flash. Nevertheless I was able to get 18 photos that I am h...

There's Goo Everywhere Again

We got another Goo Spot show! Held at the Carpinteria Skate Park, we had a full day of music, 5 bands played. Wren Hunt, Ding Mao, Beau James Wilding, Goo Spot, and Nardcore OG's Dr. Know ripped up the Carp Skate Park.  I do apologize for the lack in variety of photos I've captured though, with how wide my lens is, and the harsh backlighting, I found it pretty difficult to get some inspiring shots. But nonetheless, here's a full gallery of Goo Spot's set plus 2 shots from the Dr. Know set As always it's been a blast taking all these pictures, I hope I'll have some more pictures to share soon!
