Carp Fair

This is the first real post with the X-Pro1. My time with it so far has been very so so. I like the shooting experience with the camera and I do like the form factor and rangefinder style of the camera, but I think what's keeping me from liking the camera is the lens that I have.

The lens that I got on the camera is a Starblitz Auto 28mm f1.8 for Minolta MD film cameras. I do like the lens, it feels pretty good but the focal length isn't there for me I think. That or because it's a bit more difficult to use manual/vintage lenses on this form factor.

Even though I'm not a fan of the focal length of this lens. I will continue to use it more and more until I get used to using it. I really want to get better at using the older manual/vintage lenses on this camera, it's a lot of fun, regardless if I don't necessarily like most of the images I get out of it.

Since prime week is coming up, I'm probably going to get a 35mm lens just because its close enough to 50mm on a full frame. I'm for sure going to cheap out and regret buying a cheap lens and not saving for a the actual Fujifilm AF 35mm, but we will see. It'll be a good time I'm sure.

But I'm pretty happy with what I was able to get at the fair. It was a good time, hopefully I'll get that 35mm either the cheaper lens or the actual Fuji 35mm.

Avo Fest

Today we have a very special post, my first proper attempt at mosh pit photography. This has always been a type of concert photography that I've always wanted to do and get into but was always too scared or just didn't know when there would be a show. But this year I knew where to go, The Carpinteria Annual Avocado Festival. This family friendly event is home to one of the most surprising free concerts that I love going to. The band that played is called "The Upbeat" and they are a favorite ska band of mine, the energy that they bring and the energy of the crowd is insane. So I came equipped with my Nikon 1 J1 with a 3D printed grip and an adapted 6mm security camera lens to take the pictures. Nikon 1 J1  - Rainbow H6mm f1.2 Nikon 1 J1  - Rainbow H6mm f1.2 This year had probably the best Upbeat show I attended. The crowd was jumping, the band was playing hard, and the mosh was getting pretty intense. Usually when The Upbeat plays at Avo Fest, it gets pretty lively and...

Film Dump #3

So for today's film dump consists of 2 different cameras. My super awesome and trusty Nikon N80, and a camera I don't have anymore, the Nikkormat FT2. Both days were just phot walk days with my friend Jakob Hammer. Shot some "street" and some other variety stuff. Fist off I'll show off the N80 pictures. I haven't used this camera in a while so I didn't expose some of the pictures properly, they are a bit under exposed but they do have a bit of a spooky look to them which I do really like. Film Dump #5

Welcome to the 5th film dump! This dump is from a couple days. First off would be a disc golf day with my family up in the bay area. We went to Kelly Park for the day to play a full round of disc golf. It was a nice bright day and there was a range on the course where I was able to throw one of my discs about 300 ft, which is pretty good for me at the time. I was equipped with my cousin's Minolta X700 and a roll of Kodak GT800 from a disposable camera. The light meter on the X700 was a bit faulty due to low battery so everything was manual exposure, which I think worked out pretty well. I was equipped with my trusty Nikon FG with a roll of Fujifilm 400. The first half of the roll was used at Santa Barbara City College and the Santa Barbara Marina. I absolutely love taking pictures at SBCC...
