First Olympus

Today I finally got to use my Olympus E-500. I was really excited to finally use it since I bought it last Thursday. It's now my most powerful digital camera in my collection at a whopping 8 MEGAPIXELS. These older DSLR's have been peaking my interest lately, its definitely fun using this older tech. So here's some of the images that I took today on a photowalk with my homie Jakob once again.

Avo Fest

Today we have a very special post, my first proper attempt at mosh pit photography. This has always been a type of concert photography that I've always wanted to do and get into but was always too scared or just didn't know when there would be a show. But this year I knew where to go, The Carpinteria Annual Avocado Festival. This family friendly event is home to one of the most surprising free concerts that I love going to. The band that played is called "The Upbeat" and they are a favorite ska band of mine, the energy that they bring and the energy of the crowd is insane. So I came equipped with my Nikon 1 J1 with a 3D printed grip and an adapted 6mm security camera lens to take the pictures. Nikon 1 J1  - Rainbow H6mm f1.2 Nikon 1 J1  - Rainbow H6mm f1.2 This year had probably the best Upbeat show I attended. The crowd was jumping, the band was playing hard, and the mosh was getting pretty intense. Usually when The Upbeat plays at Avo Fest, it gets pretty lively and...

There's Goo Everywhere

So it's been a while since I last uploaded anything onto this blog, but I feel like I should continue on with this thing that I started. I guess now's a good time as any to start up again. This week we went to a local punk show hosted by local band Goo Spot, along with a newer band Corporate America. Set up at a newer bar called Union in the middle of downtown Santa Barbara.  Here is a full library of what I shot The crowd was so energetic, all these kids amped up to hear the local favorites, or even new favorites, tear up the place with that fast and loud sound. Pits opened up, they were moshing, skanking, slam dancing, jumping off a barrel, It was a great time. The show was fun time, and talking to everyone and getting all these photos was an even better of a time. With the opening of Union in Santa Barbara, I hope that the grassroots music scene of Santa Barbara will continue to thrive.

Film Dump #5

Welcome to the 5th film dump! This dump is from a couple days. First off would be a disc golf day with my family up in the bay area. We went to Kelly Park for the day to play a full round of disc golf. It was a nice bright day and there was a range on the course where I was able to throw one of my discs about 300 ft, which is pretty good for me at the time. I was equipped with my cousin's Minolta X700 and a roll of Kodak GT800 from a disposable camera. The light meter on the X700 was a bit faulty due to low battery so everything was manual exposure, which I think worked out pretty well. I was equipped with my trusty Nikon FG with a roll of Fujifilm 400. The first half of the roll was used at Santa Barbara City College and the Santa Barbara Marina. I absolutely love taking pictures at SBCC...
